Biological Aquaculture Treatment is a specially formulated mixture of EPICIN
microbes and an optimized growth medium.
It was developed to allow aqua culturists to derive maximum economic
benefit from using EPICIN biological treatment.
EPICIN-3W is designed for pond-side grow-up of the same EPICIN
microorganisms that have proven so effective in digesting shrimp pond pollution
and in providing a probiotic effect to protect shrimp health Pond-side grow-up is a “make your own”
approach that provides economies by reducing the initial dosage of expensive
EPICIN microorganisms.
EPICIN Biological Aquaculture Treatment
improves the quality of aquaculture water by digesting pollutants that plague
hatcheries and grow-out ponds. EPICIN is a specially formulated microbial ecosystem containing
live microorganisms, enzymes and growth stimulants. Although
the microorganisms in EPICIN grow as they digest pond pollutants, pond waters
usually do not contain the optimum nutrients for EPICIN growth. Nutrients could be added directly
to the pond. However, this would be expensive and would also encourage growth of indigenous bacteria,
some of which might be harmful to marine animals.
EPICIN-3W is a “one pack” product, containing both the microorganisms and the media to allow
their fermentation on the farm up to the levels necessary for effective pond treatment. The growth
media in EPICIN-3W was specially developed to provide the optimum nutrients for growth of EPICIN
microorganisms. It contains basic inorganic nutrients with a special organic carbon source and
special growth stimulants. The complex formula was developed in Epicore Laboratories after extensive
research. It was developed to provide maximum microorganism growth at the minimum cost.
BENEFITS IN AQUACULTURE:
- Effectively and rapidly reduces from pond water dangerous levels of ammonia, nitrite and
sulfide pollutants.
- Establishes a strong natural bacteria culture in the pond which suppresses the growth of harmful
bacteria such as Vibrio sp.
- Increases animal survival and yields.
- Allows higher stocking densities.
- Promotes animal weight gain for either faster growth cycles or heavier and more valuable
animals.
- Reduces need for water exchanges.
- Leaves behind cleaner pond soil reducing pond renovation costs and downtime.
IN SUMMARY EPICIN-3W Increases Aquaculture Profits!!
Penaid Shrimp grow-out pond treatment suggestions:
(1.1) Determination of Treatment Regime:
Where stocking densities are high, in the intensive range, ammonia and other pollutants - usually
late in the grow-out cycle - are likely to be the main problem. In this case, EPICIN-3W
dosage or treatment frequency may have to be increased later in the cycle, when problems
are likely to be most severe. Where the main problem is mortality early in the
grow-out cycle, heaviest EPICIN-3W treatment should be in the first sixty days
to achieve the greatest probiotic effect. For severe situations, double the
normal EPICIN-3W dosage should be used.
(1.2) Preventative Versus Remedial Treatment:
Regardless of treatment regime selected, a preventative
program is strongly recommended over a remedial one. By applying EPICIN-3W
before problems develop, animal health is constantly protected and the impact of
problems on survival and pond yield will be minimized. Pond profits are
greatest when constant protection is provided.
(1.3) Late Season Pollution Problem Regime:
In intensive aquaculture, post-larvae (PL) stocking
densities are very high (250,000 to 500,000 PL per hectare). This unnatural
crowding inevitably will produce pollution far greater than found in a natural
environment, especially late in the grow-out cycle. To minimize yield problems
in this situation, EPICIN-3W treatments should be concentrated late in the
grow-out cycle.
For a typical one meter deep pond and 120 day grow-out cycle, the following
starting treatment regime is suggested for typical one meter deep ponds.
Experienced aqua culturists may need to refine this program to fit local
conditions and to reflect their experience with EPICIN-3W.

**Use lower rate if unionized ammonia nitrogen levels are consistently
below 0.1 ppm.
***Use higher rate whenever unionized ammonia nitrogen exceeds
0.4 ppm. |
(1.32) Intensive Pond Vibrio sp. Treatment:
Treat pond with 88 liters of grow-up solution daily until infestation is eliminated.
(1.4) Early Season
In many world shrimp aquaculture areas, stocking densities are semi-intensive
(150,000 to 200,000 PL/hectare). Even with the best practices, many areas
experience early season mortality of as much as 70 to 95% due to bacterial
diseases, such as Vibrio sp. induced “red tail.” Early season treatment
with EPICIN-3W has been shown to provide a probiotic effect that minimizes the
mortality caused by diseases.
The following treatment regime is suggested as a starting point. Experienced
aqua culturists may need to refine this program to fit local conditions and to
reflect their experience with EPICIN-3W.
